On the second shift in Booster Building #2, at 5:52 PM, operators heard a loud bang coming from the scrubber room – adjacent to the booster room – and smelled smoke. The operators immediately hit the emergency stops on all the kettles and evacuated outside. The initiation was limited to the blower and did not propagate beyond the equipment.
